Desert Sand ~ Valley of the Shadow

Color Your World – Desert Sand

In tan desert sand

She finds herself falling

Weary, to penitent knees

Finally lies herself down

Against arid scratching heat

Beaten within, no fight

Remaining; nor even tears

To moisten, pad bier

Valley of The Shadow

Drifting toward sure death

Till wings flutter overhead

Heavenly dew trickles mercy

Martin Luther King Jr Day

Why do the wicked

Extinguish light within darkness

Where they must blindly

Make their way, too?

Why murder hope’s dreams,

Earthly souls who offer

Divine gifts which would

Benefit them, as well?

Your legacy remains, Dr King ~

We honor you, hold

Candles high…striving to

Forgive vision-seared, hate-obsessed evil.

Shine Your Light!

Shine with whatever light

Burns inside your heart

Bonfire, or mere candle

Noonday’s bright…sunset’s glimmer

Vast world needs light

That’s especially yours uniquely

Shine! Make glowing path

For shadowed souls seeking

New Year’s Romantic Musing

Holding hands with distant

Gone-love, greeting New Year

‘Mid fireworks flashing through

Colored smoke, snow flurries

We have wealth beyond

Many in spirits-fueled crowd

Who shiver to music

Neither of us recognize

Mute Candles, Remembrance

Tucked between Christmas, New Year’s

Your birthday, absent star

Koa wood jug catches

Falling sparkly moon dust

Plumeria scented dew, tears

On heart’s always-summer island

Memories ache, missing Gone-love

Cheesecake baked, mute candles

Adoration of the Shepherds

First to behold Him

Shepherds knelt in adoration

Impoverished throne, straw-lined manger

Baby King was born

Emmanuel, “God with us”

Savior of world estranged

From Creator…desperate for

Light of Hope, Peace

Child wears humility’s crown

Yet He holds universe

In tiny hands; salvation

For souls, hearts’ balm

Brilliant star led shepherds

To young Lord…perhaps

They heard Him crying:

“Sheep” know, follow Voice

John 10:3-4, “…The sheep hear His voice; and He calls His own sheep by name…He goes before them; and the sheep follow Him, for they know His voice.”

Ezekiel 34:31, “You are My flock, the flock of My pasture; you are men, and I am your God,” says the Lord God.

Psalm 79:13, “So we, Your people and sheep of Your pasture, will give You thanks forever; we will show forth Your praise to all generations.”

Love’s Same Gift

Same gift every year

But you never mind

My heart wrapped in

Pale silk ribbons, lace

You untie my kisses

In between soft whispers

Tease that Time’s slowed

Us down…candle flickers
